During the time I was familiarizing myself with the English curriculum and acclimating myself to a new school, I was lucky to have an experienced supervisor and coach with whom I could reflect on my experiences.

As a first-year teacher, I look forward to a weekly discussion with my mentor, regular communication with my consulting teacher, and informative conversations with my staff-development teacher.  This interaction with these experienced colleagues is invaluable. In addition, I enjoy consulting with other grade-level and subject-specific teachers.

I attend "structured conversation" and "range-finding" workshops on the new sixth grade English curriculum.  These meetings, as well as departmental and team planning meetings, give me the chance to interact with many other teachers.
